As our countrymen pull the trigger on the darkest past , soldiers started to march raising the grave on the top while the tears on their eyes flickered and begin to travel around their cheeks, we are chained! Ashes begin to flew while it’s muck remain on the red roses, the mewling of the people on that era engulf the Filipinos strength but started to kneel on the ground. Some people learned how to fight but few hide. The red deminish was being raised on top, and yes, the chaos begin while the inner drums beating. But in reality, I know, you know, we know, We are in chained.
In the proclamation of martial law, Ferdinand Marcos on September 21, 1972 “ My countrymen, as of the twenty first of this month, I signed proclamation no. 1081 placing the entire Philippines under Martial Law. The declaration was criticized as a planned precursor to extending Marcos term in office. Those past 46 years, the riot between the people and the government kills a thousands of people and some we’re murdered. In accordance to the poem “ Apo on the Wall” it tacles different experiences of the Filipinos where the child on the poem was being compared to the Filipinos who are being restricted and abused. According to Mr. Aquino III, in total, there were 3,257 extrajudicial killings, 35 000 individual tortures and 70 000 were incarcerated. In the poem, Apo is compared to Ferdinand Marcos were re ruled our countrymen and compared as Jesus where he sees everything. The father in the poem is somewhat the soldiers who idolize Marcos in his genuity.
Martial Law is a great horror on our ancestors in the year 1972 were honestly they suffered pain and abuse. It was so sad hearing the stories of our countrymen who sacrificed their lives for the sake of others. According to Benigno Aquino III, he ordered state historians to compile stories of the survivors for the sake of the youth who have no memory of that period. He also said that “ The key points of Martial rule is to refresh people’s memories in the face of what he sees as attempts by propagandists and revisionist to cast it in a positive light” He want to ensure that the information we’re passing on to the youth is based on a truthful event in our history. Let us always remember that actions have consequences and that’s why the chained were being unlocked because of everyone’s participation.
