Martial Law in the Philippines have a big part of our history, because many people had been affected by martial law by that time,September 21,1972 where former president Ferdinand Marcos signed the proclamation No.1081 which placing our country under the martial law. This is where the power of Ferdinand Marcos have being emphasized by means of his way called dictatorship. In that time, martial law accompanies curfews, and some application or extension of military law or military justice.

According to Wikipedia, president Ferdinand Marcos signed the proclamation No.1081 on September 21,1972 placing the Philippines under the state if martial law. Some says that president Marcos signed the proclamation on the date of September 17 or either September 22,but still it was considered as September 21.In our generetion ,21st century, martial law is still remembering in the way such studying it as our history. In the piece we choose to use as readers approach is “Apo on the wall “ where according to bertsnewblog.blogspot,Bj Patino writes the Apo on the wall which is a poem that talks about the narration of child’s point of view about his rigorous father and the hanging photo around the wall called “Apo”.Apo symbolizes president Ferdinand Marcos whose is called “scary Jesus”because of his power and on how he use or apply his power by the means of dictatorship resulting to proclamation of martial law.In the poem “Apo on the wall” martial law was being focused and by means of that poem, even if we can’t experience it,but we are remembering on how people suffer from this big part of our history and on how President Marcos was being called and recognize as scary Jesus.

Martial law is about how our ancestors suffer from this state and on how president Ferdinand Marcos uses his huge power by the means of dictatorship, and proclaiming the martial law.In the other side “ Apo on the wall”reflects on martial law cause maybe its not literally described as martial by its words but fully describes by its meaning so “Apo on the wall”is poem which makes you feel how people feels at that time when martial law exists. The child represents our countrymen or simply us and the picture on the wall represents president Marcos whose once called scary Jesus by the child. The author if Apo on the wall is Bj patino he wrote it for us to open our eyes and mind on what martial law is and he expressed it by the means of writing a poem as poet.
