When Ferdinand Marcos was in the position of being President in the Philippines he have the power what he want to do in his community. He declared Martial Law on September 1972 to force his citizen to obey his command. Like the poem “Apo on the Wall” the father has a dream to his son and it is to become a soldier.
According to the Philippine History Organization, Marcos explained that Martial Law was not a military takeover but was then the only option to resolve the country’s dilemma on rebellion that stages national chaos threatening the peace and order of our country. Martial Law was like the crisis in our country before because citizen was affected and the innocent people were tortured by the police. The poem “Apo on the Wall” tells the reality of life during the reigning of Marcos alongside with the Martial Law. It is a reflection of the scenario of how the Filipino experienced the tragic and traumatic event throughout the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines.
In life, you need to be strong in every struggles that you will encounter because life is like an ocean it can be calm and still or rough and rigid but in the end it is always beautiful.
